Athumani needs laparoscopic cyst removal at Kasarani Community Hospital and the family is $800 short of the hospital's estimate.

In July I was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes. My surgeon at Kasarani Community Hospital recommended laparoscopic cyst removal, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,050, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $800 short.
Doctors at Kasarani Community Hospital told me severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without laparoscopic cyst removal. I work as a market vendor, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,050 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a market vendor have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to look after the children alone during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
