In June I was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction. My surgeon at Saint Joseph Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $3,200, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $2,250 short. Doctors at Saint Joseph Hospital told me a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without emergency hernia repair.
