Araceli was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in April. The surgeon at Mar del Plata University Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and She is scheduled for June. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,400 short.
my sister has been in and out of Mar del Plata University Hospital since April. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Araceli struggles with daily life and can't work a full shift. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Araceli won't be able to work a full shift, so the costs keep growing.
