Anthony's emergency hernia repair can't wait - please help us cover the bill
After gallstones with repeated infections, Anthony was cleared for emergency hernia repair, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In February I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for May. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $10,750, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $5,350 short.
Doctors at Saint Francis Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without emergency hernia repair. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $10,750 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $5,350 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $1,750
• Hospital stay (5 nights): $2,300
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $270
• Post-operative medication: $410
• Physiotherapy sessions: $340
• Travel and lodging for the family: $280
