In August I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. My oncology team at Sheffield Cancer Centre has planned 4 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in December. I was told to expect about 6 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 57, I worked as a primary school teacher until August, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Sheffield Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $9,850 goes: • Scans and lab work: $1,100 • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $6,500 • Household costs while unable to work: $1,800 • Transport to Sheffield Cancer Centre: $450 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself. - Angela
