André was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in June. The surgeon at Pelotas University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $750, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $600 short.
my father has been in and out of Pelotas University Hospital since June. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without emergency hernia repair. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, André struggles with daily life and can't lift anything heavy. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time André won't be able to lift anything heavy, so the costs keep growing.

The list at the bottom is the whole picture. hospital stay (4 nights) is the biggest at $410. Good question.
