Andi was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in August. The oncology team at Surabaya University Hospital has planned 8 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 4 weeks. Andi is 51, worked as a shop owner until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Surabaya University Hospital 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly. We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $550 goes: • Transport to Surabaya University Hospital: $155 • Household costs while unable to work: $130 • Scans and lab work: $200 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $65 I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Hope it all works out, Hani. Wishing Andi a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out. Thinking of Surabaya.

        • Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Quezon City
