An adapted tricycle for Bella: help Bella move freely
Bella needs an adapted tricycle that the health system won't fund; the cost is $7,200.
🇳🇿 New Zealand143 views
Bella lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at the Wellington Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended an adapted tricycle. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,200.
Her current equipment is 8 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment Bella could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $7,200 goes:
• adapted tricycle: $6,750
• Fitting and training sessions: $180
• Delivery and set-up: $90
• First-year servicing plan: $180
With deep gratitude,
Michelle

Best of luck, Michelle. Shared it with a few friends. My colleague had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care
Hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Love from Makassar!
