Amelia can't leave home - help build a ramp

Materials are donated. We need two carpenters and a helper for a weekend in Bakersfield.

Amelia has used a wheelchair since 2023, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Amelia can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Amelia's family will cook lunch for the team. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Wishing you peace, Angel. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Take care
