Alberto's septoplasty can't wait - please help us cover the bill

A scheduled septoplasty in November is out of reach without help covering $1,800 of the cost.

In August I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Saint Francis Hospital recommended septoplasty, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $3,000, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $1,800 short. Doctors at Saint Francis Hospital told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without septoplasty. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $3,000 is far beyond what I've. Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk. Recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $1,800 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $840 • Hospital stay (3 nights): $470 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $150 • Post-operative medication: $60 • Physiotherapy sessions: $125 • Travel and lodging for the family: $155 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Updates from Alberto

  1. Quick update: $1,195 raised so far (66%). the first invoice got paid this week. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Good news. Because of your gifts ($930 in total) I made the first payment toward pre-operative tests and imaging. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  3. Quick update: $280 raised so far (16%). I met with the hospital and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
