Adewale's spinal decompression surgery can't wait - please help us cover the bill
Adewale needs spinal decompression surgery at Ikeja General Hospital and the family is $900 short of the hospital's estimate.
🇳🇬 Lagos, Nigeria1,122 views
In February I was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc. My surgeon at Ikeja General Hospital recommended spinal decompression surgery, and I have been placed on the schedule for May. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $1,500, and after what my insurance will pay, I'm still $900 short.
Doctors at Ikeja General Hospital told me a herniated spinal disc will get worse without spinal decompression surgery. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $1,500 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to walk without help during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $900 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $440
• Travel and lodging for the family: $65
• Post-operative medication: $65
• Physiotherapy sessions: $55
• Hospital stay (4 nights): $275
Glad we found this place.

Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Ikeja.
