ACL reconstruction for Wendy: covering what insurance won't
After a herniated spinal disc, Wendy was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Wendy was diagnosed with a herniated spinal disc in August. The surgeon at Sacramento Regional Medical Center recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $9,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $7,200 short.
my mother has been in and out of Sacramento Regional Medical Center since August. The doctors say a herniated spinal disc will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $9,000 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Wendy struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Wendy won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
