ACL reconstruction for Marek: covering what insurance won't
After endometriosis requiring surgery, Marek was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In May I was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery. My surgeon at Saint Luke Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for September. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $3,600, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $1,800 short.
Doctors at Saint Luke Hospital told me endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a hotel cleaner, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $3,600 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a hotel cleaner have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
