ACL reconstruction for Kim: covering what insurance won't
Kim needs ACL reconstruction at Da Nang Orthopedic Institute and the family is $950 short of the hospital's estimate.

Kim was diagnosed with a torn ligament that needs reconstruction in July. The surgeon at Da Nang Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,600, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $950 short.
my daughter has been in and out of Da Nang Orthopedic Institute since July. The doctors say a torn ligament that needs reconstruction will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,600 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Kim struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 10 weeks. During that time Kim won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.
Where the $950 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $630
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $115
• Travel and lodging for the family: $55
• Physiotherapy sessions: $150
