ACL reconstruction for Joaquín: covering what insurance won't
After osteoarthritis in the right knee, Joaquín was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Joaquín was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in the right knee in June. The surgeon at Celaya University Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,900, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $950 short.
my father has been in and out of Celaya University Hospital since June. The doctors say osteoarthritis in the right knee will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,900 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Joaquín struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Joaquín won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.

• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $690
• Post-operative medication: $115
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $145
