ACL reconstruction for James: covering what insurance won't
A scheduled ACL reconstruction in March is out of reach without help covering $6,650 of the cost.

James was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in January. The surgeon at Wollongong University Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for March. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $8,750, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $6,650 short.
my husband has been in and out of Wollongong University Hospital since January. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $8,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, James struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time James won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Hospital stay (2 nights): $2,350
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $650
• Post-operative medication: $210
• Physiotherapy sessions: $410
• Travel and lodging for the family: $280
