ACL reconstruction for Bello: covering what insurance won't
After a benign brain tumor, Bello was cleared for ACL reconstruction, but the bill is more than we can manage.

Bello was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in August. The surgeon at Badagry Orthopedic Institute recommended ACL reconstruction, and He is scheduled for October. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $790, and after what my employer's plan will pay we're still $550 short.
my father has been in and out of Badagry Orthopedic Institute since August. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without ACL reconstruction. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $790 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Bello struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Bello won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing.
I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section.

• Travel and lodging for the family: $80
