The flood hit the families of Eastgate Lane on 20 June. My home was one of 56 damaged, and 6 families are still in temporary shelter at the community hall. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $650 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $350 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $170 • Clean water and purification supplies: $130 Every share and every dollar helps.

Updates from Kwasi

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($37 in total) the plan for clean water and purification supplies is now scheduled. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • Take care, Kwasi. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.

    • hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Thinking of Accra.
