Acacia Primary School needs a community garden - Suren's neighborhood project
Volunteers in Sandton are raising $800 for a community garden at Acacia Primary School.
🇿🇦 South Africa1,330 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $800.
It will serve about 178 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $800 goes:
• Materials: $570
• Permits and inspections: $85
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
Thank you so much.
