Abubakar was diagnosed with endometriosis requiring surgery in February. The surgeon at Abuja Orthopedic Institute recommended hip replacement surgery, and He is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,450, and after what my insurance will pay we're still $1,150 short. my husband has been in and out of Abuja Orthopedic Institute since February. The doctors say endometriosis requiring surgery will get worse without hip replacement surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,450 is more than we can find. While we wait, Abubakar struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 4 weeks. During that time Abubakar won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing. I'll pay the hospital and pharmacy directly and post every receipt in the updates section. Where the $1,150 goes: • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $510 • Hospital stay (4 nights): $420 • Pre-operative tests and imaging: $55 • Post-operative medication: $25 • Physiotherapy sessions: $85 • Travel and lodging for the family: $55 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Chioma
