A youth football pitch for the Unity health centre yard: help our neighbors in Bangkok
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Unity health centre yard that will serve 150 neighbors.
🇹🇭 Bangkok, Bangkok, Thailand1,459 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Unity health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 150 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $900 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Permits and inspections: $80
• Materials: $765
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
Updates from Ake
Good news. Because of your gifts ($93 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 28 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
