A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Philadelphia
A community-led a youth football pitch at the Maple health centre yard that will serve 451 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,450.
It will serve about 451 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• Materials: $900
• Permits and inspections: $185
• Safety equipment and signage: $200
• Tools hire and delivery: $165
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
