A youth football pitch: a volunteer-led effort in Casablanca

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $500. It will serve about 293 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $500 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $45 • Tools hire and delivery: $75 • Materials: $380 If you're reading this, thank you.
