A weekly visit for Yevhen, 86, who lives alone in Turin

An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Yevhen is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Yevhen, who's 86. Yevhen lives alone in Turin, and lost a lifelong friend last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Yevhen loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.

    • Thanks for sharing this, Stanislav. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. It's not much but it's yours. Take care.

      • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Lviv so I could bring a meal. God bless.

Wishing you the best, Stanislav. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We're a small family in Nuremberg but we're thinking of you. Take care
