A weekly visit for Jackson, 90, who lives alone in Los Angeles
Jackson lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Jackson, who's 90. Jackson lives alone in Los Angeles, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 780 kilometers away.
Jackson loves crossword puzzles, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Friday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
Thank you so much.

- Reliable and compassionate
I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.

Keep going. Get well soon. My husband and I read this together.
You're not alone. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Love from Jakarta.
Good luck, Sharon. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from San Jose!
