A weekly visit for Iván, 79, who lives alone in Xalapa

Iván lives alone and has no family nearby; a weekly hour of conversation would transform the week.

I'm writing for my neighbor Iván, who's 79. Iván lives alone in Xalapa, and lost a sister last year. The nearest family lives on the other side of the country. Iván loves baking, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Tuesday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person. All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity. No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
