A weekly visit for Eduardo, 72, who lives alone in Bakersfield
An hour a week, a chat, and a cup of tea - that's all Eduardo is asking for.

I'm writing for my neighbor Eduardo, who's 72. Eduardo lives alone in Bakersfield, and lost a spouse of many years last year. The nearest family lives 281 kilometers away.
Eduardo loves opera, and would enjoy someone to chat with. An hour a week, perhaps on Monday afternoon, would mean the world. We can also arrange a phone call if you can't visit in person.
All visitors will be introduced by me and I'll be there at the first meeting. I'll share references and, if you'd like, a short orientation from the local befriending charity.
No special skills are needed - just kindness and patience.
Thank you for reading my story.

Hang in there, Josefa. Get well soon. We're a small family in Joliet but we're thinking of you. All the best.
Good luck. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Greetings from Ankara.
Hope things get better soon. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 12 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
Wishing you the best, Josefa. Looking forward to the next update. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless
stay strong. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side!
sending strength, Josefa. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 33 people at work.
keep going, Josefa. Get well soon. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. God bless.
Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Montréal.
sending love, Josefa. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I have a 5 year old who wants to send good wishes too. God bless.
thinking of you and your family, Josefa. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Blessings
Hope things get better soon, Josefa. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I'll check back for the next update
