I live with muscular dystrophy. My occupational therapist at the Accra Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a stair-climbing aid. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,300. My current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 8 weeks. With the right equipment I could go to school independently. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $1,300 goes: • stair-climbing aid: $1,200 • Fitting and training sessions: $30 • Delivery and set-up: $10 • First-year servicing plan: $60 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Accra.

    • Wishing you the best. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Thinking of Accra.
