A specialist standing frame would give Akoth independence - we are $1,000 away.

Akoth lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at the Mombasa Mobility Clinic has assessed her and recommended a specialist standing frame. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,000. Her current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 12 weeks. With the right equipment Akoth could attend work interviews. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered. Where the $1,000 goes: • Delivery and set-up: $35 • specialist standing frame: $930 • First-year servicing plan: $35 I hope life is good to you.

  • Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Akoth.

    • The list at the bottom is the whole picture. delivery and set-up is the biggest at $35. Ask me anything else.

  • get well soon. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care.

    • Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Greetings from Manila

      • Wishing Akoth a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.

        • Hope things get better soon. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. After 22 years in farming I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Love from Palmira

          • Good luck. Shared it with a few friends. I hope November is when things finally get easier.
