A solar-powered water pump for the old Baobab bus depot: help our neighbors in Heliopolis
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $450 for materials.
🇪🇬 Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt1,070 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Baobab bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 92 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Materials: $390
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
