For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $150. It will serve about 250 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $150 goes: • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $80 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Wishing you the best, Ibrahim. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My mother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. God bless

    • Thinking of you and your family. Your post was clear and honest. Put this on a community board in Bengaluru this morning.

      • Thinking of you. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. After 24 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
