A solar-powered water pump for the Lotus vacant lot: help our neighbors in Johannesburg
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $200 for materials.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 10 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $200.
It will serve about 392 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $200 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $70
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $65

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Thulani.
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. permits and inspections is the biggest at $70. It helps to be asked.
