A solar-powered water pump for the Jacaranda vacant lot: help our neighbors in Dortmund
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Jacaranda vacant lot that will serve 522 neighbors.
🇩🇪 North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany1,175 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,400.
It will serve about 522 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,400 goes:
• Materials: $980
• Tools hire and delivery: $270
• Safety equipment and signage: $150
Every share and every dollar helps.
