A solar-powered water pump for the Freedom vacant lot: help our neighbors in Kasarani

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 585 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $430 • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $80 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Collins
