A solar-powered water pump for the Baobab community hall: help our neighbors in Gondar
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $100 for materials.
🇪🇹 Gondar, Amhara, Ethiopia463 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $100.
It will serve about 132 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $100 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
