Gazipur

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $600. It will serve about 146 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $600 goes: • Materials: $450 • Permits and inspections: $15 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $80 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Updates from Asif

Small update. $479 so far, I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($454 in total) I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Thank you all. We're at 55% now ($329). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

rooting for you, Asif. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. All the best!
