A solar-powered water pump for Sycamore Park: help our neighbors in Newcastle
Volunteers in Newcastle are raising $2,600 for a solar-powered water pump at Sycamore Park.
🇦🇺 Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia3,573 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Sycamore Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,600.
It will serve about 502 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $610
• Materials: $1,750
• Safety equipment and signage: $240
If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

good luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Greetings from Londrina.
