A solar-powered water pump for Harmony Park: help our neighbors in Bakersfield
Volunteers in Bakersfield are raising $2,550 for a solar-powered water pump at Harmony Park.
🇺🇸 Bakersfield, California, United States2,874 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Harmony Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,550.
It will serve about 260 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $260
• Tools hire and delivery: $380
• Materials: $1,910
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Good luck. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Greetings from Karlsruhe.
Wishing you the best, Bo. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out.
Sending good thoughts, Bo. Looking forward to the next update. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Kasarani.
keep going. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Bakersfield.
