A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Warri
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Maple health centre yard that will serve 203 neighbors.
🇳🇬 Warri, Delta, Nigeria1,070 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $150.
It will serve about 203 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $150 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $55
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Hope things get better soon, Festus. I hope things turn around soon. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Entebbe
Rooting for you, Festus. Shared this with my family. Don't give up. God bless
So sorry you're going through this, Festus. I hope things turn around soon. After 7 years in customer support I know how hard it is to ask for anything. Love from Móstoles.
Good luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.
