A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in San Francisco

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Pioneer health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,750. It will serve about 379 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,750 goes: • Materials: $3,400 • Safety equipment and signage: $260 • Permits and inspections: $90 Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
