A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Mumbai
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $150 for materials.
🇮🇳 India892 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Unity Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $150.
It will serve about 237 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $150 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $55
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Mumbai
Stay strong. Hope this works out for you. I'm in accounting myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Greetings from Jakarta
It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 27 years in public service I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Myra
It's all in the list in the story. safety equipment and signage is the big one at $55, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. It helps to be asked.
Hope this works out for you. Sent it to 4 people at work. Blessings
keep going. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Hang in there, Myra. Gave what I could, wish it was more.
Take care. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My husband and I read this together. Blessings
rooting for you, Myra. Shared this with my family. Thinking of Mumbai
