A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Multan

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $100. It will serve about 400 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $100 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $15 • Permits and inspections: $35 • Tools hire and delivery: $50 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
