A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in León
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $600 for materials.
Anywhere in the world122 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 91 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $600 goes:
• Materials: $300
• Permits and inspections: $70
• Safety equipment and signage: $85
• Tools hire and delivery: $145
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
