A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Jeddah
Volunteers in Jeddah are raising $3,050 for a solar-powered water pump at Lotus Park.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,050.
It will serve about 97 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $3,050 goes:
• Materials: $2,400
• Permits and inspections: $200
• Safety equipment and signage: $280
• Tools hire and delivery: $170
