A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Guadalajara
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at the Cedar vacant lot that will serve 139 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 139 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $95
• Materials: $495
