A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Eugene
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $3,250 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,995 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 23 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,400, and the remaining cost is $3,250.
It will serve about 104 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,250 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $430
• Permits and inspections: $145
• Materials: $2,675
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Hope things get better soon, Roman. This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Madrid so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Eugene.
Best of luck, Roman. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. All the best.
