A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Cairo
Volunteers in Cairo are raising $300 for a solar-powered water pump at the Sycamore community hall.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 140 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Materials: $165
