A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Berlin
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $650 for materials.
Anywhere in the world1,056 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 464 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $175
• Tools hire and delivery: $150
• Safety equipment and signage: $325
I hope life is good to you.
Updates from Heike
Small update. $240 so far, I made the first payment toward permits and inspections.
Thank you all. We're at 22% now ($140). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.
