Volunteers in Amritsar are raising $100 for a solar-powered water pump at the Jacaranda vacant lot.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $100. It will serve about 272 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $100 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $20 • Tools hire and delivery: $40 • Permits and inspections: $40 Thanks for reading all this.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 8% now ($8). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage.
