A solar-powered water pump: a volunteer-led effort in Albuquerque
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Cedar Park that will serve 377 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Park, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,000.
It will serve about 377 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,000 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $240
• Tools hire and delivery: $400
• Permits and inspections: $360
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
